YOUR FAMILY’S STORY, SAFELY KEPT
Privacy & your archive
KinReel is operated by Flying Home Productions LLC. This notice covers the KinReel Plus viewer and its account services.

What the viewer uses
We store your account identity, email, display name, library permissions, connected phone and TV credentials, watch positions, search requests, and support or content reports to provide your private viewing experience. Search requests are processed to return matches; this viewer does not maintain a separate search-history feature.
TV sign-in uses a code approved on our website. The TV app does not ask for your account password, payment information, or new media uploads. Short-lived playback links allow an authorized device to stream a movie.
Who can see your media
People with explicit library access can browse its videos and metadata. KinReel’s operator can inspect submitted material, manage access, investigate reports, and approve or withdraw viewing access. A family library can be shared with multiple accounts; an account can have access to several libraries.
Archive partners deliver digitized material for processing. Source videos, audio, descriptions, chapters, posters, and other supplied metadata may contain personal information. People and relationships must not be invented. Face processing is off by default. External AI processing of source material requires a separate recorded approval identifying the provider and data sent.
Service providers and storage
The website uses Sites hosting. KinReel email/password accounts use Supabase Auth to manage an email address and password, with Resend configured to deliver verification and recovery emails through Supabase. Existing beta accounts may use their original Sign in with ChatGPT connection during the transition to a KinReel password. Family videos and library metadata are not sent to Supabase for authentication. KinReel stores the linked account identifier and expiring browser-session records; it does not store the password. Existing reviewer sign-in remains separate. KinReel’s database stores account and catalog records. The family pilot streams authorized viewing copies from the owner’s NAS through a dedicated gateway; hosted sample footage is separate. Hosting and network providers process network requests, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service.
If you subscribe through Stripe, Stripe handles payment information and provides billing records to KinReel. Sandbox subscriptions do not charge real money. The viewer does not store card numbers. KinReel does not sell your family videos or use them for advertising.
Playback diagnostics
To investigate interruptions, KinReel records short-term operational measurements: an internal account and movie identifier, an independent diagnostic session ID, player state and numeric errors where supported, transfer volume and read failures, and server performance. Only the operator can view this dashboard. Diagnostic records are stored on the gateway for up to 24 hours, with bounded record limits; watch progress is separate. We do not include playback credentials, raw URLs, IP addresses, filenames, descriptions, or search terms in this diagnostic store.
Phone features and family contributions
Comments are associated with a movie and visible to people who currently have access to its library. You can remove your own comment from the conversation or report a concern. Removed comments can remain in the service database pending privacy or support review. A shared viewing link does not grant library access. Library owners can explicitly grant or revoke access to an entire selected library.
When you use the phone as a remote, the service processes the selected TV, current movie, playback position, and short-lived commands. Commands expire after ten seconds; playback sessions are shown as active only while recent heartbeats arrive.
Voice contributions use the family metadata editor. It stores the original audio, transcript, and proposed changes linked to the chosen video. Where you authorize AI processing, the recording is sent to OpenAI for transcription and its transcript for metadata suggestions. Suggestions require review before publication. These contributions can also be saved in the archive’s FHAMS contribution records.
Where downloads are enabled, you may save a viewing copy or clip. Files exported to your phone or shared outside KinReel cannot be recalled by revoking library access. The app excludes its temporary export folder from device backups; files you save elsewhere follow that location’s settings.
Early access and promotions
When you register for early access, we record your verified email, name, optional note, account-email consent, and review status. Registration does not automatically open a library or start a paid subscription. New free accounts can view only films explicitly shared with them. The operator controls upgrades and access to One Step VHS. Promotion records track the offer, eligibility, redemption, and any free-period expiry. Complimentary membership does not grant access to other families’ libraries. Account-service email consent is not a subscription to promotional marketing emails.
Suggestions and notifications
Guests with access to a movie may suggest changes to its details. The library owner sees the suggestion, contributor name, and review history, and decides whether to approve it. Approved details are visible to people who can access that movie.
KinReel stores comment and metadata activity notices. Optional email alerts use Resend and include your email address and a general activity message linking back to KinReel; they do not include movie titles, comment text, or guest suggestions. You can turn in-app and email alerts on or off in Notification preferences. These alerts are separate from marketing subscriptions.
Retention and your choices
Account records, catalog information, and watch progress are retained while needed to provide access. Reviewer accounts have an expiry date and can be revoked. Security records, transaction records, and request resolutions may be retained where needed for security, disputes, or legal obligations. Retention of backup copies and shared archives is assessed as part of each deletion request; KinReel will explain any data it must retain.
You can request deletion of your account or watch history. A request is not confirmation of completed deletion. KinReel verifies ownership and scope, carries out the action, and confirms the result. Removing your account does not erase another family member’s archive or automatically cancel a paid subscription. We will address any active billing separately.
